Wishing You Joy ink blending Pin-Sights Challenge

By Laurel on January 19, 2017January 19, 2017

Laurel Beard Leaping Deer Essentials By Ellen Pin-Sights Challenge Hero Arts Ink

Hi there!!!! Today I am participating  in the latest Pin-Sights challenge!!! The challenge is based on this Pinterest inspired piece I have chosen specifically for this challenge. I was drawn towards the colors and also the first photo, the two love birds skating in the snow! I’ve created a fun Winter scene with some ink blending, heat embossing and die cutting all rolled into one card.

January Pin-Sights Challenge Ellen Hutson

First, I started to work on the background panel. Using a black piece of cardstock, I stamped the cluster of dots from the Bokeh Dot stamp set all over the panel with white ink! It looks like falling snow right? Then I pulled out the Stitched Hillside die and and adhered it to the card. A snowy hilltop was born.

Next up, the leaping deer! I adore this die! After cutting it out, I blended on some ink using two colors from the Hero Arts Quiet Morning cube set (20% of all inks thru 1/22 – click HERE). My little deer needed some sparkle. Hello Sparkle Embossing Powder! Nice to meet you! I inked up both the deer and the “Joy” (I did die cut the Joy smack dab on the snowy hill top before adhering the hill top to my black card panel) with Versmark ink, sprinkled on the sparkle embossing powder and heat set! Ooohhh.. Ahhhhh. Sparkle… LOL! And it doesn’t come off all over your hands.

Last, I finished out the scene by adhering the deer and Joy with double sided foam tape for some added dimension to really made those sparkly elements pop off the page – literally! And I tied a bow with twine. I did! It’s true! That probably took me the longest – tying that stinkin’ bow! I stink at tying bows! Which is why you will never see ribbon on my cards – truth!

Challenge: Now it’s time where you play along! You have until January 31st to get your entries in! To head on over to the challenge and check out the other guest designers projects, please go HERE! One participant is randomly chosen to win a $50 gift certificate to the Ellen Hutson store!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!! 🙂 We are having some kind of warm front here in CT. Where is this horrible winter I have heard about? Strangers have warned me about the Winter when they find out I’m from Florida! I’m just not seeing it.   It’s it in the upper 30’s this week – with rain… Oh well.

Oh Laurel, What a lovely card! I know you must be feeling the winter joy as you frolic in the snow in the North. You seem to be having fun. I’m so glad. That was a lovely tea shop you and your daughter were in. I’m so glad your parents are coming and going. Thank God they are able to travel. I love that card. I didnt get to photograph the winter and Christmas cards i finally got done. (the ink was madly drying as I stuffed them into the envelopes as we went screaming out the door.) So much to do, but i really want to get my Christmas stamps out and do some more. I’m glad you are well. Hugs, treen

The deer is such a great size for your card and like how you have him placed on the little hill!
