I had a video for the first card, but we were hit by a tornado and we lost power. We are all safe and our house didn’t take a direct hit. We have lots of down HUGE trees and a lot of clean up work ahead of us and for the whole town.
Inspiration is everywhere and I was inspired by the new release graphic from the Wild and Wonderful Release from Catherine Pooler available now. This card took quite a bit of time but I LOVE the results… Allow me to introduce you to the Wonderful Wildflower stamp set and coordinating dies. Today is Day 1 of a 3 day blog hop chalk full of inspiration using the new line.
The Wonderful Wildflower stamp set is a layering stamp set and I chose to create the layerings by inking and heat embossing in clear. The outline image was heat embossed in white. The rest of the layers were inked in the various colors. Once the layering was done, I inked up the solid image with Versamark ink and stamped it right over the top of the flower and then heat set it with clear embossing powder. The embossing will protect the color underneath it! I did this so I could apply a wash of black ink over the entire panel when all the stamping was complete. Heat embossing resists certain inks (I used Black Soot distress ink). That’s how I got these fun bright colors on black!
Speaking of ink colors, I used all four of the new colors here and that’s it (except the white for the sentiment). I’m head over heels for this card. I think its simply wonderful, he he he! 🙂
Here is the badge that inspired me to create the card!
My next card features the Scroll Butterfly die. I used it as a stencil. I ran the die over a piece of masking paper and used the negative space! I adhered the negative space over my card panel and then stamped images from the Focus on the Good stamp set. I made sure to fill it in completely so the butterfly would have crisp lines when I removed the mask.
For a fun border, I stamped the Kaleidoscope stamp (which is a fabulous stamp set and I feature that background in my last card) and added a strip of glitter paper.
And lastly, the Kaleidoscope stamp. GORGEOUS! I white heat embossed the background image and then smooshed the 4 colors of inks onto my glass mat. Then I pressed my cardstock here and there until I was happy with the result. Take note that yellow and purple will turn to brown so keep those colors separate.
I adhered a piece of Catherine Pooler Vellum over the top and then heat embossed a sentiment from the Note of Thanks stamp set right over the top. This vellum is exceptionally strong so there was ZERO warping when I heat embossed the sentiment.

Love how your first card looks similar to Catherine’s showcase piece for the release. It’s gorgeous and definitely worth the extra time spent. Very clever idea of filling in the butterfly diecut with small images. The ink smooching looks great with the kaleidoscope background. I love how you toned it down with the vellum. It gives such a soft look.
