Watercolored Peonies and Heat Embossing

By Laurel on April 13, 2016

It’s Wednesday! It’s hump day! You are closer to the weekend!!!!!!!!!  Yesterday, I purchased some Dahlias for my daughter’s teachers and I fell in love with the colors! They inspired me to want to watercolor some flowers immediately! I grabbed the Loose Peony stamp set from the Ton and stamped them out, heat embossed with Silver Pearl embossing powder and started watercoloring using the photo of the flowers I took as a guide. I watercolored with the Gansai watercolors….

Once the watercoloring was done, I fussy cut all the flowers and leaves and started assembling the cards! Who doesn’t love gold? Stripes? Gold stripes???? Hello! The Haute Stripes stamp set is fab and paired with the Brutus Monroe Gold embossing powder, you have – well… GOLD!

Look at that sparkle? From both embossing powders……. I stamped a sentiment from the Basics Sentiment stamp set and called this card DONE! Wait! Not true, lol! Added a little more sparkle to the gray card base and the sentiment strip with the Spectrum Noir Glitter Pen!

For my next card, I stamped the Marvelous background stamp with Smokey Quartz ink, Then I partially inked up the same set with Versamark ink and sprinkled on some Silver Embossing Powder and heat set.

I love the mixture of shine sprinkled throughout the background.

I had a blast making these cards. The watercoloring was relaxing. I had Grey’s Anatomy (I love me some Miranda Bailey – short and sassy) playing on my Ipad, a cup of coffee (with a dab of cool whip of course) and just colored! A nice break from the stress of real life.

I’ll see you back here on the 15th!!!!

Absolutely gorgeous! Loving all those beautiful new stamps but I think I have to add the stripe background stamp to my wish list too as it looks so good! I love watercolor flowers, and practice all I can to get good results! Think I need to invest in some of that gold embossing powder too, it looks awesome!
