Watercolor Blog Hop: Watercolored Poinsettias with Giveaways

By Laurel on November 7, 2015November 8, 2015

EDITED TO ADD VIDEO!!

Hi there everyone! Welcome to the Inklipse 1000 Subscriber Blog Hop. Simon Hurley has reached 1,000 youtube subscribers and he has put together this super fun hop for you all. If you don’t already know, Simon is a young, skilled crafter (13 years old) and he is super talented. I love supporting and encouraging creativity for our youth, don’t you???  You should have hopped over here from my lovely friend Nicole Picadura‘s blog

The theme for this blog hop is WATERCOLOR! So get ready to see loads of gorgeous watercolored projects! AND, each blog will have a video to go along with their project so be sure to check it out!

I chose to work with this GORGEOUS Poinsettia stamp set from Ellen Hutson and do some watercoloring with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. The exact colors I used along with the rest of the supplies are linked at the end of the post!

I love to start with a white piece of cardstock and see what happens. LOL! The sentiment is from the Santa’s Flight stamp set. I just masked off a portion of it so I could just stamp the words “Happy Christmas to all” because you know me….. I love to say Happy Christmas (Harry Potter anyone, lol)…..

Video time!  You can watch the video right here or over on my youtube channel in HD!!!!!

GIVEAWAY:  There are FIVE prizes up for grabs! Yup! FIVE.  Just leave comments on all the hop participants blog and you are automatically entered to win. The winner will be announced by Simon.  The prizes are generously donated from these fabulous companies:

  • Create A Smile Stamps
  • Brutus Monroe
  • Ellen Hutson
  • Newtons Nook
  • Alley Way Stamps

Next up on the hop is your final stop! Lisa Adametz/Ellen Hutson CLASSroom!

I have been following Simon for a few months now and love supporting young talent. It makes me laugh to think that he has been making cards twice as long as I have, and I’m his grandmother’s age! But, I love my new endeavor of making cards and have learned from all of you crafty ladies for the past year. Now I am learning from 16 year olds, too! LOL Your cards are always terrific. Love the zigs. I need to practice more with them. Thanks for your enthusiasm!

I don’t own the Zig watercolor markers because I have lots of other watercolors and thought I didn’t need them. After seeing the beautiful card you created, I may have to rethink this. I noticed you used the Bristol paper for this and I bet a Hot-Pressed water color paper would work, too! It has a smooth surface as well.
