Video: Watercolored Coffee Cups

Watercolor Coffee Cups with Stencil Laurel Beard 1

Earlier in the week I shared a card almost identical to this one. Today I thought I’d share a video to go along with the card to show you just how simple it is to create this card. You just need some distress inks, a stencil and a sentiment stamp.

You can watch the video right here on the blog or over on my youtube channel in HD by clicking HERE!

The distress ink colors I used are Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet. I love the blue/purple together! 🙂 And because I used distress inks, they blend so beautifully together when mixed with water. NOTE: Don’t overspray your stamped stencil with water. If you do, you will loose the design of the stencil when you press the stencil into your cardstock.

I have three favorite coffee themed stamp sets in my craft room. I linked to all three of them below if you want to take a closer look at the sentiments/images that come on the sets.. I used a sentiment from the Coffee Love stamp set for today’s card. I love a crisp white sentiment against a black card base… So I stamped the sentiment with some Hampton White pigment ink and heat set with some Super Fine White embossing powder. Anytime I heat emboss sentiments, I always use a super fine embossing powder. If I don’t, I find the letters in the sentiment get thick and hard to read!

So that’s it! Pretty simple right? That’s why my hashtag is #simplycardmaking. If I can do it, you can do it! LOL!!!! Experiment with other color combinations and stencils. Use a different medium if you don’t have distress inks! Paint some watercolors on the back of a stencil, spritz a few times with water and then stamp with it and see what you get!!!

This weekend, I am missing a crafty retreat with some of my favorite people! I sure wish I could have gone. I could have used some time away with friends, :(!!! I need a refresher. To make up for it, I am going to spend some quality time with my kiddos. Mother/Son day on Saturday and Mother/Daughter day on Sunday…

See you guys soon!
