Video: 2 cards featuring watercolor with Inktense Pencils and Distress Ink REFILLS

By Laurel on April 27, 2014

Hi there!!! Yesterday I posted 6 different cards I created with different watercolor mediums! HERE is a  link to the video…. I received lots of comments asking for videos on how I made each card! THANK YOU ALL! I love requests!! They make me happy! Today I have two cards to share with you today along with a video!!! The cards feature two different watercoloring mediums.. Inktense watercolor pencils and Tim Holtz Distres ink REFILLS! All the supplies can be found at the end of this post……

This card was made with Inktense Watercolor pencils! They are fabulous! Just fabulous.. These pencils are so easy to work with. Just lay down the color and add water! The more water, the less intense the color is. With just a little bit of water, you get vibrant, intense results like this:

I added a touch of glitter to the edge of the panel to finish off the card nicely! The American Crafts Glitter tape made it super easy. Just peel and stick and the best thing? The glitter doesn’t come off!

To show how versatile the pencils are, here is the card from yesterday where I applied a lot of water to tone down the colors. Same layout, same products (with the exception of the sentiment) and a totally different result…

Moving on to the Distress Ink Refills…  Before I get started, I wanted to mention that you can only achieve this result by using the distress ink products because they are formulated to react with water! Now this is my favorite I think out of all of them. I love the splattered look. And to achieve this is effortless…. Just drop a few drops of reinker onto your wet card base, and spritz on a lot of water and voila… I used Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn distress ink refills here.

Adding some flicks of white paint to the blue base added a nice finishing touch to the card I think.

Now I did mention a video, didn’t I! Well here it is! A video showcasing how I made both of these cards! 🙂 You can watch it here or over on my youtube channel in HD. If you like it, give me a thumbs up! If you have any other video requests, leave them in the comments! 🙂

I pulled out all my watercolor mediums and started playing around in preparation for the upcoming Online card class, Watercolor for Cardmakers. I am so excited about this class, it isn’t even funny. I am limited with what I can do with my watercolors because I just don’t have any idea!!! I typically make backgrounds and color in images…. This class will expand my experience with watercolors and I can not wait. The whole reason I made these cards was prep work for the class so I can dive right in when it starts next week!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I’ll be back soon with another video featuring the other cards from yesterday’s post!
