I’m so happy to be participating in the January UWF (United We Flourish) Better Together blog hop! You should have hopped over to me from Kittie Caracciolo’s blog. The Better Together stamp/die set was created exclusively for Ellen Hutson by Hero Arts as part of the United We Flourish Campaign. I’ve got a giveaway as well, but first let’s check out the card.
Some lovey dovey birds were screaming out to me when I saw this stamp set. But I wanted to find a way to add some texture so I pulled out some crackle embossing paste and the Sketched Lines stencil. I have an old video using some Ranger texture paste AND crackle embossing paste if you want to check it out HERE.
I love crackle embossing paste and really need to pull it out more. For this card, I didn’t tint it anything. I just applied it with a palette knife thru the stencil and let it dry (wash the stencil and palette knife straight away)… I added some more color with distress inks and the birds and branch were colored with Copics.
Next up on the hop is Libby Hickson

The background for your cards is so pretty. Thanks for the ideas.
Very sweet card, I’ve never tried texture paste, I like the look of it.
I love the soft background you created.
So sweet with these birds and love the background.
Hi Laurel,
I have seen these stamps being used a lot just lately I really need to go onto Ellen’s shop site to look at the full set. I love this card particularly the background as my New Year’s Resolution is to make more backgrounds for my own cards rather than use DSP. I definitely need to purchase some embossing paste – need to go shopping!
Love these birds! The
texture added to the
background is pretty
and the parrots lovely.
