A few days ago, I hopped onto Periscope (I’m @lbeard on Periscope) to try out the Ken Oliver Color Burst powders with some stencils. Before I get started, I wanted to let you know that I will be doing a Simply Color Burst video series very soon!!!!! (Similar to my Simply Gelatos series). I will go into detail on all these techniques one by one. Each sample you see here will be featured in my series. I will go into detail about how it was done in a separate video for each technique. Don’t want to overwhelm anyone! Or make an hour long video, lol!
I have played around the color bursts a lot but had never used them with a stencil before, so what better time then to do a scope live and try it out, lol!!!!!! What I had intended to be a short session turned into almost an hour long! Why? Because the viewers were giving me ideas to try out and I happily agreed! I love being a guinea pig, I am sad to say, lol!! Most of the techniques worked out brilliantly while some.. not so much!!!!!!! And then right about the time I was calling it quits on a specific technique attempt, Ken Oliver himself popped on, shared some secrets with us and we all just had a blast! I was left feeling inspired and happy.. Not to mention, countless backgrounds were created for future projects….. Oh yea!
Here are some close ups on what was made during the scope. I can’t wait to turn these babies into cards and other projects… The technique used will be listed underneath each photo:

I have even more backgrounds made, but I won’t share them all, lol!!! I can’t wait for my Simply Color Bursts series to start! I hope you are excited as well.
As far as where to purchase the colors bursts, I recommend three retailers that I shop from personally.
