Northern Lights and Thistles! Yup! They go together! Of course they do! I am playing along in the current Color Trends Challenge over at the Ellen Hutson Classroom. I’ve attached the inspirational photo at the end of this post. A randomly selected winner will receive $50 to the shop so be sure to play along! You have a MONTH!
I was drawn to the image with the Northern Lights so I thought I’d create my own. I watercolored the background with my Gansai Watercolors. Listen, I laid down a lot of color. It looked so, well I’ll say it, UGLY! But I let it dry, accentuated some more areas with deeper color (the pink and blue) and walked away! When I came back, I was absolutely in love with the background. I did flick on some splatter with the black and white paint to finish it off.
Next it was time to add the Thistles! I didn’t know, but I love Thistles! LOLOLOL! And I adore this stamp set. I stamped out the images with Jet Black ink. I opted not to heat emboss because I wanted it look like it was almost see thru. So some of the background color was picked up when I inked up the images! The sentiment is a combination of the Basic Alpha stamp set and the Totally Random Sayings Vol 2 stamp set. To finish off the card, I sprayed it with a sheer shimmer spray.
Here is a look at the inspirational photo! So many gorgeous colors and I chose to go with the deepest most intense picture, lol. Go figure.
Just gorgeous! I love the colors!!
