Color Bursts Die Cutting Techniques

The Ton’s 3rd Anniversary Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Welcome to The Ton’s 3rd Anniversary Release Blog Hop. The Blog hops are from 1/19-1/26 and showcase 4 designers a day… Loads of inspiration to be found!  The Ton has 23 new stamps for their Third Anniversary Release, which includes up to two free gifts with purchase (Daisy Duet and Peony Notes Bundle A+B+C). For more information on The Ton’s incentive gifts, head over to The Ton’s blog.  All new release products are available now!   I also have a giveaway. More on that in a bit.

I have three cards to share today and I’m starting with my favorite first. Can we talk about this Peony Notes stamp bundle? It’s a layering set of all layering sets. You can layer the flowers, the leaves and the solid background. (there are three sets- A, B and C). I’ve never seen anything like it.

I stamped the foliage and sky with distress inks (exact colors are linked in the supply list for you) and heat embossed the gorgeous sentiment with a platinum distress ink. If you look closely, you’ll see some polka dots in the background. That’s from the Delicate Polka Dots background set….. I stamped and heat set in white.

This next card also uses the Delicate Polka Dots background set (subtle there in the background stamped in Deep Sapphire ink) and the City Buildings background stamp. I heat embossed the buildings in Rose Gold Embossing Powder and watercolored with some Ken Oliver Color Burst (blues, purple).

I think using dark colors against the rose gold embossing really made a nice contrast.

And finally, my last card showcasing  the Delicate Polka Dots. I stamped the background in Light Onyx ink and added a layer of Gold Glitter Paper as a border to the panel. The sentiment is in the same Rose Gold and I foiled a few gold dots to tie in the gold glitter paper better.

You can see the gold dots better in this photo. (Glue pen to create the stickie dots and then I pressed the Gold Deco Foil onto the glue – I have a video showcasing this on another card I did last year HERE at minute 1:15).

Laurel, three very different designs. Normally I would go for the floral as my favourite but on this occasion it was the second design with the contrast of the rose gold embossing powder to the navy card stock it was an amazing effect. Will have to try this one out. :O)
