Rasberry Suite Color Challenge 14

By Laurel on August 12, 2009

This week’s color challenge was hard for me, but I gav e it a whirl. Here was the challenge:

And my submission (click to enlarge):

I started out using Gina K’s (Stamp TV) tutorial on inking using a cuttlebug folder. Do you see the background of the scarlet card? That is the argyle embossing folder and Papertrey Ink’s vintage cream. I love the look of it…. I then took a piece of vintage cream paper and sponged it with Plum Pudding ink using a sponge dauber. I found some rasberry DP and stamped the cute little couch on there and adhered it with a pop dot. Added some cute little purple throw pillows to seal the deal. Added another hint of pink by adding the PTI rasberry fizz ribbon.. Oh yea, almost forgot because it is so hard to see. I did a rug underneath the sofa in vintage cream. Hard to see so I heat embossed it and it did give it the shine that I was looking for (even though you probably didn’t even see it in the photograph)….

Supplies:
Papertrey Ink: On My Couch, On My Couch Additions
Papertrey Ink: Belle Rose, Plum Pudding, Vintage Cream
Other: Cuttlebug, Argyle embossing folder, marvy punches, corner rounder, PTI ribbon, buttons

And for those of you who have followed my last two posts (Teachers Gifts courtesy of Nicole Heady, check it out) – I mentioned I burnt a hole in my carpet using the heat embosser. Well, for laughs, here is a pic of it. Isn’t it lovely?

This all sounds too complicated for me. Keep up the good work and keep those juices flowing. Mom

Great card Laurel. I’ve never gotten around to inking up my Cuttlebug folders…always meant to but never done it. It looks great so I think I”ll have to try it too! Ha ha! I’m laughing at your carpet. Your first stamping casualty!!! I’ve burnt my fingers before and finally learned I should hold the paper with tweezers or tongs!

Neat background. I need to try inking up my cuttlebug folders! Love the couch as well. Awesome job on Dawn’s color challenge.

    It’s a good life!

Thanks for the card! I was wondering how you did the color on the embossed part. Very clever. The time has come where I will now be coming to you for help!
