*New* Wplus9 Design meets Sweet Sunday Sketch/Play Date Cafe

By Laurel on April 29, 2010

Let me start off by saying I am not a huge fan of this card. I have tried two cards today and honestly, this was the best of the two (that says how awful the first one was)… If this is the first time visiting my blog, please scroll down. There are some other cards  that I would love for you to take a look at!

I wanted to participate in Karen’s Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and The Play Date Cafe Color Challenge. I was drawn to both challenges. I liked the clean layout in Karen’s sketch and I absolutely love the color scheme in the color challenge! I pulled out my WPlus9 Woodgrains Silhouette set and my Hero Arts Flourish background cling stamp. I stamped the flourish background in Versamark and heat set it.. It has an incredible shine that I just couldn’t capture on photo! Next I stamped one of the images from the Woodgrains Silhouette stamp set and used one of my COPIC markers to add some polka dots. I distressed the edges and adhered it to a scalloped circle punch using a pop dot. I  took my two main colors (Spring Rain,  Spring Moss) and inked up the large woodgrain image and stamped a strip…. I took vintage cream and sponged over the strip because one of the colors in the challenge was off white…. I adhered the scalloped punch to the strip and stamped the sentiment (Practicing Creativity You’re Dandy) and corner rounded the edges. All the effort I put in to this card (believe it or not, ha), I just wish it had turned out better.

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my blog!  Tonight, we have my son’s art show at school. Last night, he was kind enough to keep me awake for 2 1/2 hours claiming he was scared of his toilet!!!! Seriously???  I am TIRED!!! On to my third Coke Zero of the day!!!!

Oh I love your doodled leaf , and that flourish makes a gorgeous background. Thanks for playing at the play date cafe 🙂 And for being brave and sharing a card that you don’t like. I do though 🙂

Lovely card! I love the colours you’ve used for our challenge, they are really fun and great use of the sketch! You may not like it but we never like our own work, we’re our own worst critics! Thanks for playing along with us at the Play Date Cafe this week!
