*New* Sweet Sunday Sketch/SPCC with COPICS – Lawnfawn style

By Laurel on May 3, 2010

Greetings blog world! Today, I participated in the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. And as soon as I saw the colors in the SPCC Color Challenge, I was hooked…. I broke out my Lawnfawn stamps and got to work. I stamped the sewing machine directly onto my white square and colored it with COPICS. I needed some pink, so I colored the spool of thread with RV14. I paper pierced the outline of the square and adhered it to some fun polka dot paper… Next up, ribbon……

Now, let me start off by saying that ribbon hates me! Truly hates me. I can NOT tie a bow. I have spent hours and hours watching videos and practicing. I even bought a bow easy! Not so easy for me!!! When I saw Ashley Cannon Newell’s ribbon technique, I thought, PERFECT. I can do that! HA! Seriously, that one strip took me 30 minutes. I didn’t have a color that matched perfectly so I took some PTI white snow ribbon and colored it with my RV14 COPIC to match the thread!

The cute “thank you” stamp? Well, that’s a freebie. Lawnfawn always gives a free “thank you” stamp with your order. I think there are 5 total, so keep ordering and you will have a nice little set of thank you stamps! Thanks for stopping by! And thanks for leaving me comments! Every one of them truly mean the world to me.

You knowww….. if it wasn’t for that whole second paragraph you wrote in your post today, I would have NEVER guessed that you had any trouble with the ribbon! haha!… I swear, It looks super cute!
You mastered Ashley’s technique! So no worries!!!
I’ve been meaning to try that “pleated” look too!
And I love pink and browns together! You can’t go wrong with that color combo (in my opinion)!
    Great Card! =)

This is a great card. I love the ribbon (you did a great job with it) and the way that you colored it to match. Thanks for joining us at SPCC.

ps-the only way I can tie bows is upside down…thread the ribbon where you want it to go, then flip your card so the top is facing your body, the bottom is facing away, but the card is still face up. Tie your bow, and VIOLA! Great bow! (works for me anyway…let me know how it works for you)
