Masking Unleashed: Party Cards

By Laurel on May 14, 2018May 13, 2018

Paper Masking is a great way to get multiple cards from one sitting! I took the Masking Unleashed Class and was blown away by all the tricks of various forms of masking. Today, I am focusing on the paper masking using my favorite masking paper. From one mask, I was able to make three cards!

First things first! Create the base work of all the cards. I placed a piece of masking paper on a 4.25xx5.5 white card panel and then die cut the word party using this Bold Alpha die set…. Pop out the cardstock letters (1), peel up the masked letters with the masking paper still attached (2), use the negative space as a template (3).

First up, the letters with the masking paper attached. I peeled off the backing paper and placed the letters over a white card base. Then I stamped and inked blended all over that card panel. The masked letters protected what’s underneath. For both stamp cards, I used the Celebrations Stamp Set.

Once I was done, I peeled up the masks and was left with the gorgeous white background. I added a bit of ink splatter and a sentiment! That sentiment, hahahahaha!

The next card features the die cut panel that we used to cut out the letters. In other words, the template.  I adhered the template down to an A2 card base.  Then I simply stamped images over the letters and puzzle pieced them back into place.

I sprayed the entire panel with a shimmer spray for some SHINE but its impossible to capture on camera, darn it. Trust me, I tried. LOL. In hindsight, I would have left the panel white instead of stamping in it, but live and learn. I still thought it would be nice to share the technique with you.

And lastly, a very simple card. A little ink blending on some Pure White Ink Spray and voila!   The sentiment is from the same Crafty Life stamp set.

There you go! Three cards, one sitting!!! 🙂
