Little bit about me

I also thought I’d share a little bit of a Q/A from a past interview. I edited some of it to reflect updated info!

How did you get started in crafting?
I started about 8 years ago when my son was in preschool. I wanted to make something for his teacher so I made a clip board. It was not very pretty, lol.

What is your favorite project that you have done so far and why?
This is a tough one because I have made so many things with so many different mediums and products. It is hard to pinpoint one thing that is my favorite so I will share with you what is my most meaningful lately! Some bookmarks I made for my son’s class. While this may not seem like much to you, this was the first time my son ever asked me to make anything for him or his class! I eagerly jumped at the chance. He is 11 now and I was honored he asked me to do something for him.

Where do you get inspiration for your projects?
From fellow crafters! I am constantly left in awe by the talent out there!

We love inspiration over here. What is your Mantra that motivates each day?
Just Do It! You know, from Nike? LOL! I don’t put any stress on myself. I don’t sit down at my desk with a plan in mind. I just sit down and create. I grab a stamp set or product I want to work with and go from there! I find if I try to pre-plan something, it stresses me out and takes the fun out of it. And crafting is fun! It is a release for me! I enjoy it and certainly don’t want to put pressures or limitations on myself.

What is your biggest #craftfail?
I can not for the life of me tie a bow Seriously. I can’t! And sequins? Don’t get me started. They stick to everything but where I want them to be. I found one in the bottom of my shoe once. Ouch.

What craft product you can not live without?
Distress Inks. I love them so much. Gelatos rank up there with them too. So it’s a tie!

Cats or Dogs?
DOGS! We have a rescue dog named Sadie. Best dog ever! She sleeps with my son, puts up with my daughter’s shenanigans and is a constant companion and friend to all of us.

How has your blog changed since you started?
It has more content, it is much prettier and organized! I used a template from 7th Avenue Designs to design my blog. Good quality and very inexpensive.

How do you fit crafting into your everyday life?
I do it when I can. I have two kids and I can’t make a schedule. I’m a mom first and everything else later. So I basically do it when I have time. Again, its freeing for me so if I try and commit to a schedule, it doesn’t really work out for me!

Is there anything you learned the hard way while crafting?
Don’t compare yourself to someone else. Don’t compete with other crafters. I never check to see how many subscribers I have (on any social media platform). That would just stress me out. I learned that I am my own person. I have my own strengths and my own weaknesses. To compare myself to someone else is completely useless. I am me. And she is she. Hey, that rhymes.

What do you love about papercrafting?
Its my zen. It’s calms me!It’s like my yoga, lol!

What was the first thing you ever made?
An altered clipboard. I took a clipboard and added some patterned paper and Mod Podge. Oh yea, it was ugly.
