Lawnscaping Challenge #26: Winter Wonderland

By Laurel on January 16, 2012

Hello!!! Welcome to another Lawnscaping Challenge! I just absolutely love this challenge, the design team I serve along side of and all of you who play along! Today’s challenge is all about Winter Wonderland. Here in Florida, we don’t have much of a winter! Our winters are maybe 50 degrees during the day, but could drop down to the 30’s at night! But this winter has been anything but. I found myself in boots and a coat one day and then a short sleeve shirt and flip flops the next!!! Craziness!!!!! Here is what I created for this challenge:

As usual, the supply list is below!! I created the background with a combination of blue Tim Holtz Distress inks and Liquid Pearls. I brushed up on the mirror stamping technique (see Chari’s video here) with the penguin! I wanted them to be penguins “in love” so I stamped the heart from My Silly Valentine, colored it with Copics and applied a super thick coat of Glossy Accents.  I used some Black enamel for the eyes and colored the center of the little bow with my silver uni-gel pen (LOVE THAT PEN IN ALL COLORS)… The snow on the hills was made with Stardust stickles (yum)….

The tree was stamped three times and colored with two shades of Tim Holtz Distress Inks from the winter limited edition pack. I cut out the different sections of the tree and adhered them with different layers of dimension…. I used the water flicking technique with a perfect pearls mixture and then added a final touch of Picket Fence distress stickles to give it the look of snow!

So, there you have it! I hope you like it and I hope that you will play along with us! Be sure to head on over the Lawnscaping blog to see all of the deets on this challenge and all of the amazing projects the design team made! Also joining us are two guest designers: Ruby McGuire and Linda Trace!!!!

Thanks for stopping by! I think it’s time for me to do another giveaway so stay tuned! I am thinking either Faber-Castell or Memory Box die cuts… Hmmm… Decisions… Decisions! Have a great day!
