Hello sweet friends. I am currently participating in the Altenew Educator Certification Program and am embarking on a level 2 certification. I have been in awe of all the classes I have been taking over at Altenew Academy and can’t wait to share some of the things I’ve learned. Today’s card is from the “In The Mood For color” class taught by the sweet and talented Stephanie Klauck. I was drawn to her lesson that focuses on the color green, which associates with the soothing natural mood. I suffer from anxiety so ANYTHING with a soothing, natural mood appeals to me…. So I pulled that mood into my card using the same medium and technique she did! I also used very few supplies.
I inked up the image with different shades of green distress inks, spritzed the stamp with water and then stamped firmly into my watercolored panel. I took a wet paint brush and moved some of the ink around a little bit to create more of a watercolor image. Then taking my cue from Stephanie, I went around the edges of all the flowers with Hickory Smoke distress ink to add a shadow… I really think doing that extra step “MADE” this card.
Oh, I so love your card. Those greens are awesome! And I love the extra gray step. Beautiful!
Absolutely stunning!!! I think I’m going to try this today!!!
Beautiful card Laurel!!!
:pve that!!
I absolutely love everything about this card Laurel. I too suffer from anxiety (and depression) since my accident 6+ years ago left me 70% disabled. I try to surround myself with green (wearing a green sweatshirt now….lol) and positive energy. Thanks for sharing this beautiful card and technique. Happy Mother’s Day!! ~HUGS~
