Die Cutting Ellen Hutson Techniques Water Coloring

Hippo Birthday Card

A birthday cake and a hippo! What’s better than that? There is still time left to play along in the Pin-Sights Challenge! I was a huge fan of the colors on the inspiration board so I made a second card! 🙂 I pulled out the Ellen Hutson Wish Big stamp set  ( EH ) and die ( EH ) and created this quick and easy scene. I wanted to make a fun and color night sky so I used some Nuvo Embellishment Mousse for that. I just used a cloth and simply swiped it onto the background. Surprisingly, the embellishment mousse dries within seconds! 🙂

A very simple scene with a tiny bit of dimension (I popped the hippo up with some foam tape ( EH ).  This card was especially easy to pull together because I sometimes just stamp out a bunch of images from various stamp sets, color/watercolor, die cut them  and put them in a bowl. When I go to sit down and make a card, I sort thru all the finish images I have made to see what I can pull together…. 🙂

If you didn’t know, I have the honor of running the challenges over at the Ellen Hutson CLASSroom. The Pin-Sights challenge (which I am playing along in today) is on the 3rd Thursdays of each month and is based on an inspirational photo I have chosen. The Mix It Up challenge is on the first Thursday of each month and is where we mix it up with Essentials by Ellen AND another guest manufacturer. We randomly select one winner from each challenge and that lucky person receives a $50 shopping spree to the store!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! The weekend is JUST about here! I had big plans – a friend coming to visit for a week, but she had to cancel so now I’m in full google mode trying to figure out what we can do this long holiday weekend (It’s July 4th in the States – Independence Day). Have a great weekend 🙂

Hi Laurel ~ Such a fun card and I love your use of the Mousse (Hey….I made a rhyme!!). Question: I have some of the small jars of the mousse that came in a kit a couple of months ago and it seems to have dried out. I kept it covered even while working with it and it dried out anyway. I was wondering if there was a way to revitalize it? Maybe if I add water but didn’t want to add anything to it before checking to see if you knew. Thanks and I hope you’re having an awesome 4th weekend! ~HUGS~
