Techniques Water Coloring

Floral Background Two Ways

Hi there! I am honored to be guesting with The Foiled Fox this month. I’ll be visiting over there a few times this month with some fun projects! Today, I’ll be using Penny Black’s Sweet Perfume Cling Stamp.

Let’s take a close up look of the card on the right! (Both panels were die cut with Lawn Fawn’s stitched rectangle dies). I stamped the gorgeous floral image from Penny Black onto some watercolored cardstock with Onyx Black pigment ink and heat set! I always heat emboss my images when watercoloring because I want the outlines of the image to remain crisp. Then I just watercolored. I think I had my Ipad going (I am currently rewatching Hawaii Five-O, lol) so it was just carefree watercoloring. I decided I needed some polka dots… Every one needs some polka dots in their lives…. So I grabbed Concord & 9th Brushed Blossoms stamp set and grabbed the little dots from there that were intended to be the floral centers – he he! The sentiment is from the Concord & 9th You’re My Person stamp set.

Moving on to my next card! I stamped the same image in white pigment ink onto black cardstock and heat set.  Then I restamped the same image onto some watercolored paper and colored one of the larger florals with some FinTec Gold watercolors and fussy cut. (I will admit, I am NOT the best at fussy cutting – I am so impatient.

I lined it up with the same floral on the card panel and popped it up with some foam dimension. To add a bit of shading, I colored in some of that background with some black distress ink.
