Embellish Cozy Christmas using Perfect Pearls

By Laurel on December 2, 2010

I had fun with this card, but let me tell you, it took me over an hour to make it. Doesn’t seem like it should have taken me that long, does it…… I was inspired by the Embellish Holidays Color Challenge. What a gorgeous color palette. Sneaking that pink in there was challenging for me because I really do not use pink often….. I started by heat embossing the houndstooth pattern in clear embossing powder and applied Tim Holtz distress inks over the top. The hat, bows and santa note was colored in with Copics and then a thin layer of Perfect Pearls was applied over the top. The fireplace and fire was painted with Tim Holtz distress inks/Perfect Pearls mixture.  It is so sparkly! I love this card. Almost so much to not part with it when it is time to send out my cards. Can I send this card to myself I wonder?

I decided it would be nice if I could frame out the sentiment, so I used my Spellbinders Nestabilities and cut out a “frame” and stamped the sentiment on the inside… Here is a close up of the sparkle (as best as I could photograph it that is):

The hat was colored with Copics and then painted over it with Perfect Pearls Forever Red  and then added some Liquid Pearls to the trim. First time using that stuff and I am in LOVE!

Thanks for the fun challenge Embellish! I had a blast!

Supplies:  Hero Arts Houndstooth Background; Lawn Fawn hats off to you, Cozy Christmas; Tim Holtz Distress Inks (barn door, bundled sage, worn lipstick); White Opal Liquid Pearls; Perfect Pearls (Perfect Pearl, Forever Red); Neenah Solar White card stock

Note: The bows are from a Christmas set I picked up on clearance at Michael’s crafts. I think it is made by recollections but am not sure.
