Hi there everyone! Today I’ve got a fun card to share that started with a white piece of cardstock. Most of my cards always start out white and then I add the color! I find that so much fun to do! To start, I stamped the images from the Sending Peonies stamp set with Versamark ink and then sprinkled on some white embossing powder (by Brutus Monroe, primarily the only embossing powders I use now) and heat set. I combined Black Soot and Hickory Smoke distress ink over the top to create that background. The white heat embossed images will resist the ink I lay down on top of it!
To finish off the card, I watercolored in some perfect pearls over some of the petals and added a strip of glitter tape to the card base. What I especially like about this glitter tape is the width (6mm) and they already have the adhesive on the back! 🙂 They do have other widths available in the shop. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set. She has quite a few sentiments on this set so you can built your custom sentiment.
I’m wrapping up my house hunting trip today and we fly back home! We had a successful trip and purchased a home and even had time to have the inspection done. Now its just the tireless process of closing, which is very different up here than it is in Florida. Much simpler in Florida. Driving back into NYC today to drop off the rental, which is ironically NEAR where the owner of The Ton lives, lol!!!!! Won’t see her this trip but will have plenty of time to see where once I move up here!
Have a great weekend!

What a beautiful card Laurel. Congrats on your move.
this is too fabulous!! had not thought to use the black soot for a background. I have used other colors.
Very nice card! So happy to hear you had success on your trip up here to CT. Congratulations on your house purchase. I SO look forward to meeting you in person. ♥
love your card Laurel and the more i see of these peony stamps, the more i think i must have them!
Laurel, love this card, love the dark background vs the white embossing on the beautiful flower stamp. I live in NYS, what part of the state are you moving to
Love the card – blackboard cards are still so cool! 🙂 Glad to hear you’ve got a new house. You’ll feel much better about the move, knowing you’ve somewhere to lay your head.
Beautiful card!
I love your card. I just ordered a The Ton peony stamp set and I just received hickory distress ink. Seems like fate that I will be trying my hand at your technique.
FABULOUS card and FABULOUS news!!!
SO HAPPY to hear that your search is over => HAPPY moving 🙂
