This week’s Color Throwdown had some wonderful colors, but even better, Kristen from the DT created some fun digi paper for us to use if we wanted to, FOR FREE!
I instantly decided I wanted to do some paper piecing so I used Lawn Fawn’s Bake me a Cake, Bannerific and Sophie’s Sentiments and paired it up with Hero Arts Friendship Definition and came up with this:
I heat embossed the text background, paper pieced the cake and used some Tim Holtz Distress inks. I did use my Copics on the cake stand itself.
I am in Houston for the next few days visiting with my husband’s side of the family! It is 4:30 in the morning and I am awake! Wah…… Before I left, I had 30 minutes to craft so I challenged myself to use only what was on my table (in an effort to help clean up, lol) and take no longer than 10 minutes per card. So I was able to make three which I will be sharing over the next few days while I am here in Houston.
Lastly, don’t forget about the new Lawnscaping Challenge! You have until Wednesday to play and the theme is snow! I did make one more card inspired by the challenge that I am going to share with you soon!
Oh, I took a picture of my blog candy before I left to so I think since I am awake, I might as well go ahead and post that too! By the time you read this post, the giveaway post should be live!
Um, this is amazing. My favorite card of yours yet!
This is so pretty. The embossed background and the color combo rocks!

This is such a sweet card, Laurel! I love the Bake Me a Cake set. It is so perfect for paper piecing!
You are a very patient lady … embossing the entire background. Looks great! I like how you did the cake. The whole card turned out great!

AWESOME!! LOVE this bday card–and I love that you made three cards in 30 minutes! WOW! I can’t wait to see what you made! I always have my desk clean because I can’t work on it with so much stuff piled everywhere…so this challenge is no good for me! LOL!
