Hey there everyone! I’ve kind of been on hiatus from the blog for the last week because I flew up to Chicago! Yup, this Floridian went up to chilly Chicago to do some filming for Blitsy! This post is a personal one so if it isn’t your thing, then feel free to check back later this week for more crafty projects…
Ok. So filming.. Yes, I did some filming, ack…. My first on camera experience was QUITE nervewracking but hey…. I conquered a fear…. Very different from the type of filming I do here at the house for you all. VERY DIFFERENT. S0 when you watch it, be kind. Be very kind, lol! Blitsy will be offering FREE classess soon and I was super honored they asked me to film a few lessons for them! They have been busy behind the scenes getting it all ready. Lots of different teachers, lots of different classes…. Be sure to check out their blog. Lots of inspiration goes up there daily! I fell in love with their offices. Exposed brick and piping.. Barn doors. Exposed brick and piping, barn doors, lol. I wish I took more photos. But here is a sneakie of a small part of their offices. (I want to put up a brick accent wall in my house… If only I knew how).
See the straws in the background? Meghan made those and it’s up on the Blitsy Blog HERE! So clever. I have a billion of those paper straws lying around my house… This would look so cute in my daugther’s room. Make a few, frame and hang? Oh yea… Meghan is so awesome. She was in the midst of making an Infinity scarf, from like scratch. No buying in the store. She bought the fabric, did some stamping and was on the sewing step with I left. (sewing.. I can’t sew a button)… It turned out fab… You can see it HERE. And she has two models showing it off. A human and canine kind.. So funny.
So, while I was in Chicago, Spring fell upon us. All the locals packed up their winter coats and jackets and started planting flowers. But ahh, not so fast. Because it snowed on Monday, he he he!! I think me and the family were the only ones in Chicago excited to see the snow. We were all at dinner with a dear friend of ours who lives downtown, and she was like, great.. it’s snowing.. Me and Lucas threw down our forks and ran outside…. Hardly any snow can be seen…. You can have to squint to see it. But it was there. By the next day, I couldn’t even see out the window it was coming down so hard…. I took a few videos clips. If you follow me on Instragram, you’ve already seen them…. No, we aren’t tourists or anything.. This was the first time Lily ever touched snow and first time Lucas and I ever saw falling snow.. It was soooo pretty.
A few things to make note of that was foreign to me…. Bellmen… Here in Florida, they just grab our luggage and take it if, if we let them. Most of the time, we are cheap and want to do it ourselves. In Chicago, they haggle for rates. Hey, I’ll watch your car for you for $15 bucks. Sure, here’s my keys. Say what? You just gave your car keys to a complete stranger? Second. Uber.. What the heck is an Uber? It’s sounds like a dirty word. LOL! You are just going to get in some stranger’s Camry and pray you get to your destination safely? Hey, it works I guess… And they have an app where you can book your Uber and watch the little car move around. I took an Uber and a cab (oh, oh… I got to hail my very first cab, like ever….. It was thrilling, lol)… and got to my destinations safely…
Oh, let’s talk pizza… OMG. I am still thinking about this deep dish pizza we had with the Tobas Family.. Lou Malnati’s… SOOOOO good…. We had some leftovers and the first thing I did when I woke up was eat the leftovers. At like 730AM. DELICIOUS. I want more… SO much more…. DUDE, they ship nationwide. Be right back… 🙂
Ok……… Back… Our view from the first hotel we stayed at out in the burbs… You all know I am A COCA COLA GIRL! HE HE! What the heck is that Pepsi logo doing right there staring at me. Pft…. We stayed here for two nights and then moved downtown for 3 nights…
Unfortunately, as I am scrolling thru our photos, we didn’t get one with all four of is in it… LOL! Where was my darn selfie stick when I needed it….. The first thing we did on the way home from the airport was to get our dog, Sadie. She was staying with a friend who had a dog and they became the best of friends.
When we got back and I slept… and slept… And slept. Apparently, I was quite tired. Then it seems like I did days of laundry… We are finally getting back into the swing of things…. I had a few crafty packages arrive so I can’t wait to get back in the craft room…
Notice I didn’t say much about how Lily did on the plane.. That should say all you need to know… But I wouldn’t have traded this experience for anything. To be able to go to Chicago and do what I love and be able to extend it into a family vacation was amazing. My family is my whole heart…… I couldn’t imagine them not being there with me….
Thanks for sticking with me if you made it to the end….. Off to grab some coffee while my house still lies silent… Oh, the sound of sleeping kids (and the snoring of our sleeping dog)…. 🙂
I love family vacations. Thanks for sharing yours. Oh and ps I would be glad to ship you some of our snow.
Great post. Saves me from texting you for details. I hope you link the videos you made.
Sounds like a lot of fun! So glad the snow made an arrival for the kids!
So fun! I enjoyed this!
Looks like a great trip 🙂 And filming that must have been so exciting.
Kate xx
Yay….sounds like a great trip!
How exciting for your family to have it snow while you were in Chicago. Did you have a hard time finding winter coats in FL? You look so bundled up like it was freezing there. I bet if it was anywhere 30 or above the locals were running around without coats or even in shorts, thinking it was spring. To a native, after a long cold winter, 30 is a heatwave. LOL!
