Unconventional Thanksgiving Card

Who said pumpkins have to be orange? No one! That’s right! LOL! I’m using the awesome Large Die of the Month from Spellbinders October Kit today to create this unconventional card! The monthly kits come at a fabulous price!

No orange pumpkins here. No scarecrows…. No green leaves…. Just lots of texture from the stenciled background and the alcohol inked panel I used to die cut the elements…  The October’s Die Set is called Fall Flora and contains 16 dies. Now you can create wreaths, borders, frames…… There is a lot you can do and the PDF gives you loads of ideas on how you to use these.

I chose to two backgrounds I had preciously made (I make lots of backgrounds at one time and save them for quick cardmaking)….. The stenciled background was created with a stencil, embossing paste and a black spray. The die cut pieces were cut from a Alcohol Ink panel I created on yupo paper. See all the texture? The assembly of the die cut pieces took just under a minute and this card was done.

*Video: Alcohol Inks and FIRE

Alcohol Ink and FIRE! That’s right! Today, I am going to show you a safe and easy way to to create fired alcohol art!  I am using the Brea Reese Alcohol Inks. They just released new colors and I can’t wait to get my hands on them. AND, they just released to TARGET! 🙂 I’m making a cute little ceramic dish in today’s video using alcohol inks and FIRE! It’s ok, I promise….. With safety precautions taken, this is really fun! I’ve made 10 gift dishes so far in a range of colors and each dish features a unique, one of a kind result.

Let’s get to the video to see how this is done:

So…. Are you still with me? Did I scare you? I’m still standing and the house didn’t burn down… With safety measures in place, this is really quite a fun process! Anytime you work with alcohol inks, make sure you are in a ventilated area. I opened all the windows! 🙂

So fun! Do you think you will give this a try???? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

Funny Gingerbread Girl – Oh Snap

HAHA! Take a chunk out of that gingerbread girl why don’t you! A very quick and easy card today showing you how you can use a single image to create a cute card! The alcohol Ink background was part of a slew of backgrounds I created ions ago! I save all my backgrounds for times just like this.

The sentiment is hilarious and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to take a bite out of her head (that’s weird isn’t it, lol)…….

Super quick post for a super quick card! Have an awesome Thursday!

*Video: Lift Ink Pad and Refill Techniques

For my Art Impressions Blog Hop post, please click HERE!

Hopefully by now you know about Justine Hovey and myself new endeavor, FREE  monthly LIVE Virtual card classes. To learn more about it, head to this post.

We had our first live class this past Thursday and we had so much fun.  We featured techniques using the Alcohol Lift ink pad and refill/reinker. Join the Facebook group by clicking HERE! The replay is available there.  Our next class will be announced shortly.

As part of our free class:

  • we will post live on Facebook at a scheduled and create our projects together
  • keep all replays available for rewatch
  • Post a regular video tutorial on our youtube channels.  We based the cards we made LIVE in class off the cards we made for our youtube channel.

That brings me to today’s post!  3 cards using the Alcohol Lift ink and refill techniques!

A complete supply list is linked at the end of this post. You can also click HERE to see it. You don’t need all these supplies. To create projects using our techniques, you’ll need: Alcohol Inks, Alcohol Lift Inkpad and Yupo paper (special paper that works brilliantly with Alcohol Inks), and Isopropyl Alcohol (from any drugstore, supermarket, etc)

You can watch the video by clicking HERE!  Please subscribe and like the video!

A few close ups of my cards with the technique listed underneath the photo:

Ink Lifting and Transfer

I lifted the ink from the first card and transferred it over to the second.

Be sure to watch the video to see exactly how I made these cards! And I hope you’ll join the Free Virtual Card Classes group where the next class will be announced. Remember, it’s completely FREE! 🙂

These are the cards I made in the LIVE class.

*Video: Simple way to add Gilding Flakes to Alcohol Ink Background

Remember this card where I added Gilding Flakes to my Alcohol Inked Background??? I received a ton of emails and PM’s asking me how I did it so I’ve got a 2 minute video to show you just how! You can watch the video by clicking HERE and heading over to my youtube channel and watch in HD. Comments and thumbs up on the video are much appreciated!

See how easy it is?? There are a few different ways of doing it. You can use a sticky glue pen or any glue that dries tacky and apply it to your alcohol inked background once it has dried.  Once the glue dries, you can press the Gilding Flakes into it and they will stick! I like my way just because it’s faster and I don’t have to pull out another supply, lol! Lazy much?
