CAS-ual Fridays: Glitzy Adhesives

By Laurel on August 6, 2011

So, I really wanted to play along in the current CAS-ual Fridays Challenge: Glitzy Glue Dots. The challenge is for us to add glitter (which I really, really hate, ha) using an adhesive glue dot or strip. I chose to use my scor-tape! Love that stuff! If you don’t get anything else out of this post, remember SCOR-TAPE! The stuff is amazing. No scissors required. Just rip, peal off the back and you are done!

Now, I really hesitated about even posting this card at all because in full disclosure, I don’t like it…. I think the color of glitter I chose to use  and the width I put down ruined it for me.  Or maybe I should have just done the strip on the bottom and not the top…. It really takes away from the two toned background and the vellum.  BUT I seriously worked on it for about 45 minutes, so what the hay…… Here it is. Be kind.

So there it is.!!!!!! Hope you have a great Saturday…..

I really like this Laurel!! I liked the green–especially on the bottom, I think it looks like the little pinwheels are sticking up out of glittery grass! I think it’s very cute 🙂

I love your honesty, remember we don’t always have to love our own cards, but someone else would be tickled beyond belief to get this in the mail. I think the glitter reminds me of astro turf, so this would be a fabulous retirement card, kinda like “sit back and watch the wind blow” with a cool beverage in hand.

I am not sure why you don’t like this! 🙂 It is adorable! I love the glitter strips and I can totally see the vellum in the center! I love what that does to the background! This is such a fun card! Thanks for playing along at CAS-ual Fridays!

    Love your card 😉
We all know that not every design will be our finest masterpiece – I know I’m plenty critical of many of mine!
I think your glitter-festooned pinwheel design is great fun though! The vellum is the perfect complement to the pizzazz of the sparkle borders. Great job, Rx

If you work hard on something it deserves some recognition, and this card sure does! I love those pinwheels, don’t know how you did them, but they are amazing! And the glitter really is cool too!

I’d be happy if I find this on my mailbox, it’s happy and colorful! I love that the green glitter seems like a strip of lawn, so cool!

I know exactly what you mean about the hesitation. I used to hold back my duds, but after reading a few posts from some of my stamping idols about the ways they’d salvaged their flubs and learning so much from them, I decided to share more of them. If I learn something in making the mistake, then maybe someone else reading will be able to learn it too.

And I can totally see what you were going for with the vellum and glitter strips. Great idea for grounding those pinwheels and obscuring the background a bit. I think it’ll be even more awesome the next time you try something like this.

I think this has been a tough challenge. I like the windmills – very bright and cheerful, the glitter strips look fab! Here’s mine!

the one thing I’ve noted whenever I post a card that I hate, is that everyone else loves it! I think you’re judging it too harshly 🙂 Its fun and whimsical and the colors are pure happiness. Love those little pinwheels!! Glad you got glitzy with us this week at CAS-ual Fridays!
