Blog Issues / Host Change

By Laurel on August 12, 2017

Hello all! I have been having major issues with my blog! So much so and after many MANY calls to my current hosting company (all of which gave me a different answer each time), they decided to do a site restore immediately following a complete blog back up (which should have backed up every single thing on my blog (plug ins, photos, theme, etc). They assured me it did.

WRONG!  When the site restore occurred, they LOST 6 months worth of my photos (February-August). Poof, they were just gone and they took no ownership for it. They definitely did something wrong on the back end. And the last 6 months had empty boxes where photos originally were.

I went back and filled in where I could. Some posts I had to delete entirely, some photos are thumbnail size, while others I was able to find from other sources. I did what I could to correct the visual of the blog on my end, but the damage is done and it’s not 100% like it was. But I did what I could.

I am currently migrating from one host to a new host.. Fingers crossed everything will be smooth sailing from here on out. They say it will not affect those who subscribe to my blog. My domain will remain the same… In theory, nothing will look any different to you or I. But I wanted to give you all a heads up. And also explain why some of my blog posts are weird, while some photos (if found in google) aren’t linking back to the direct post, etc……

Namaste.

So sorry to hear this! For them to do this to you and take no fault in it is asinine! Another example of those who have some power using it for evil instead of good! I hope Karma bites them in the *ss HARD! Companies that do stuff like this need to be called out on it so others can make informed decisions on whether to deal with them or not.
I wish my faerie wand had real magic in it so I could bibbity-bobbity-boo your pictures right back where they belong! Since it doesn’t I am sending you one of my 5 year old granddaughter’s magical, “make it all better”, (((HUGS))).

Laurel, that’s terrible! ???? I really hope your blog migration goes smoothly. I had to migrate my mom’s WordPress blog recently, which was a huge headache!!! Thankfully I was finally able to figure out the solution–without the host’s help, btw. I hope that you have a much better experience. Sending HUGE hugs and kitty kisses!!!!! ???? ????

SoooSorry. You must be devastated over the loss. Funny how it is never anyone’s fault…..Good luck with the new host.

OH. EM. GEE Laurel!! What a freakin’ nightmare!! Exactly NOT what you needed at this point in your life. So, so very sorry. Interesting that the company never took ownership or apologized for screwing things up. I hope you’re enjoying your time with your parents. ~HUGS~
