Hi there! Today I thought I’d share a card and video. Shaped cards are so fun and versatile, so I thought a balloon shaped birthday card would be fun! And best thing is this balloon fits in a regular sized envelope. SCORE! I made a few mistakes along the way so I decided to keep them in the video so you can see how I fix them, lol! I make mistakes ALL OF THE TIME, but if I’ve invested any amount of time into my card, I don’t want to trash it… Hint: Sequins are a great way to hide boo boos! 🙂
This die set is fun! The largest balloon is the perfect size to fit a standard A2 envelope. You can make shaped cards from any shape! Dies, silhouette cutting machine, etc….. To add some fun to the card, I decide to emboss some diagnoal lines on it using my scoring board and this awesome cushiony stylus. I colored the banner (from this Lawn Fawn stamp set) with Copics and used colors referenced on Sandy Allnock’s hex chart. The cute little trio of candles is from this Ellen Hutson set! To make the balloon stand up, just cut a straight edge on the bottom of the BASE card (shown in video). I had fun accented the ballon with my coconut gelato, which ironically also helped mask yet another inking mistake of mine! As always, all the supplies I used are listed at the end of this post linked to a few different sources. Just click on the picture and it will take you right to the item!!
You can watch the video right here on the blog. OR, even better, you can watch it HERE on my youtube channel in HD! And if you don’t already, I would love it if you hit that subscribe button! 🙂 I enjoy making videos even though it is time consuming, so knowing you like them means the world to me and keeps me doing them. Have an awesome day!!!

Very cute. Love how you covered up the red.
Adorable! Thank you for sharing. I am curious, where would do you get that little stand you use to hold the card for photographs? If you don’t mind me asking, of course.
Hi there! It’s called a floral frog (used for flower arranging) and I got from Joanne’s years ago. It’s similar to this one: http://www.joann.com/panacea-products-pin-frog-2-inch/4009205.html?mkwid=W1wOqoww|dc&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=&utm_campaign=Shopping+-+Home+Decor&CS_003=10131488&CS_010=%5BProductId%5D&gclid=CPCNjJCqusUCFdYUHwodHmwAtg
Thank you so much, Laurel! You are amazing!!
Love that balloon card! I’m totally with you, if I make a mistake on a card I would rather spend time hiding it than starting over! Ha!
Adorable card! I have that snarky sentiment stamp set as well. I really need to pull it out and use it!
I like the way you made your own texture. I’ve used sequins on many cards to hide stuff!
