Welcome to the February 2017 Essentials by Ellen Release blog hop! Today I have a few cards, a full reveal video, and a GIVEAWAY to share with you today! I made a TON of cards with this release, but will only share a few today and the rest over the next week or two so you aren’t overwhelmed! You should have hopped over to me from Sandy Allnock. This is a jammed packed post so let’s get to it and check out the first card I created. Who doesn’t like a little bit of “whipstick” as my daughter calls it…. My favorite lipstick color is red believe it or not. Some people like to wear necklaces or scarfs to dress up. I like putting on a little bit of red whipstick.
Speak of lipsticks! Adorable! And why not a rainbow assortment of lipsticks? I grabbed the Make it Beautiful stamp set and stamped out the lipsticks, colored them with Copics and die cut them with the coordinating die! I wanted to show that the Swing and Slide dies could be used for cards other than slider cards! For this card, I just used it as a background. The lipsticks sure would have been cute swinging and spinning, but for those that might be a little leery of making slider cards, I wanted to show you a different way of using it.
The panel behind the slider cut out was made with distress inks. I adhered that panel to a pink card base and put some foam dimension behind each lipstick and adhered them along the slider line! While it looks like a slider card, it’s not! The lipsticks don’t move. I added a bit of shimmer with the Spectrum Noir glitter overlay pen to the lipsticks and to the pink card base showing thru. I also flicked on some shimmer spray for some added shine! The stars are from the Wonky Backdrops stamp set.
I couldn’t stop with one card with sparkle. I had to make two!! This card introduces you to the Spread the Sparkle stamp set. Some of you may have this stamp set and die as they were the Ellen Hutson 10th Anniversary gift to customers and are now being made available for purchase. I stamped the sequins from the Spread the Sparkle stamp set with Onyx Black pigment ink onto some vellum and heat set. (Tip: To avoid warping, move your heat gun quickly on vellum and heat from the backside).
To create the ombre look, I blended some Peacock Feathers distress ink on the back side of the vellum. Vellum can be tricky to work with as its a slick surface. Be careful not to touched the inked area of the vellum until it dries completely. Once dry, you can finish off the panel! I added some of the Nuvo Glitter Drops (White Blizzard), Nuvo Crystal Drops (Morning Dew) and some black texture spray to the vellum panel.
To add even more sparkle, I colored in the sequin images with the Spectrum Noir Glitter overlay pen (looks beautiful on vellum). I added more of the Nuvo Crystal Drops (Caribbean Ocean Gloss) to center of the sequins! The Sparkle stand alone die set works perfectly with this set. To create the sparkle on the die cut, I inked up some black cardstock with Versamark ink, sprinkled on some Judikins Sparkle embossing powder and heat set! Ohhhh, the sparkle. I popped up the sentiment (also from the Spread the Sparkle stamp set), added more sparkle from the Spectrum Noir Glitter Overlay pen and adhered the panel to a woodgrain card base using multi matte medium glue.
If you’d like to see a video on either of these cards, please let me know in the comments.
